We have provided a range of consultancy services within the Business and Performance function of a European Arms company which included detailed assessment, development and delivery of a suite of specialised project management programmes. Our client support the European Defence industry and their projects are both contractually and technically very complex and have lifecycles spanning more than 20 years. Implementing change in these projects with respect to increasing business performance on its ongoing projects carries substantial risk and requires consultants who are not only well versed in the subject from a knowledge perspective but have the experience of being at the coal face.
We worked in consultation with the client project community carrying out detailed analysis of the organisational maturity with respect to capability in Programme, Project and Supplier Chain management. We designed, developed and continue to deliver a bespoke series of project management learning events. The aim of these workshops is to provide coaching sessions and stimulate intellectual challenges on the enablers of programme, project and supply management.
Outcomes include:
- A climate more conducive to continuous learning, through greater openness, sharing of knowledge and the need to prosper as a project management community
- Greater understanding and the ability to manage multiple issues that will arise in large complex projects especially balancing multiple interest areas (stakeholders, customers, interfaces, suppliers, multiple funding sources etc).
- Good return on investment, at the individual and organisational levels
