- People at all levels typically work very long hours
- Staff surveys show that people don’t feel sufficiently valued
- Out-dated systems and processes leading to inefficiencies
- Old style leadership behaviours
- Employees habitually not taking their full holiday entitlement
- Resistance to changes in working practices
- Low level of flexible working offered and/or low take-up of options
- Increasing levels of sickness and stress-related absence
- Women, black and minority ethnic staff conspicuous by their absence or scarcity in management roles
- Little interest or activity in community engagement and charitable support
- Few links with the local community
- Problems in recruiting good employees in a competitive market
- Low level of employee secondments.
