Strategy
Having a clear strategic direction and implementing it effectively are critical to the success of any organisation, particularly in these challenging and uncertain times. The BCL approach to strategy recognises that the process of strategic thought and development is fundamentally important. Successful organisations not only take a realistic view of their business environment and goals, they also have good processes ' which recognise the characteristics of the organisation and crucially, which facilitate robust dialogue and enlightened creativity to develop good strategy. In doing so this creates energy and engagement for implementation. Good strategic process also recognises the vital importance of tuning into the wider business context and being alert to small but significant signals of change.
Ultimately, we see strategy as being about the creation and alignment of purpose in a human endeavour, and about the effective harnessing of resources to that.
Using tools unique to BCL, the 'Thinking Organisation' and the 'Ladder Strategic Development', we can create a strategic intervention at any level in any organisation including:
- Leadership programmes involving strategic thinking as a key component
- Facilitation of strategic discussion and strategy setting
- Reviews and development of an organisation's processes of strategy generation and implementation
- Development of strategic thinking skills, for Senior Management Teams and Board level and also for managers at operational levels
- The development of skills to enable creativity and dialogue in the strategy process.
Our proposition is to challenge and enable participants to build their own skills in strategic thinking and debate rather than to do this for them. A BCL strategic intervention leaves behind greater confidence in the individual, team or organisation's capabilities and an understanding of how to continue to develop this capability.
